How To Remove Spots From Fabric Furniture

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2008

First of all, let me explain one thing about spots and stains:

- We call spots some unwanted soiled marks on the fabric that does not belongs to the fabric itself and can be easily removed. Spots are more like: - Grease, shoe polish, finger prints, etc.

- Stains are a little more complicated to be removed and most of the times they can not be removed at all. Few stains that can be removed from the fabric are more like: - Food, coffee, juice, wine, beer, water, ink, urine, etc.

- Stains that can not be removed from fabric are bleach; and hard to remove: blood.

Most of spots and stains can be removed if used with the proper product. One very important thing to remember is to pre-test the material first. Here I will tell you how to remove most of the stains out of fabric, and the same process can be used to remove spots/stains from carpet as well.

This is what you need to do first, before you can actually try to remove any spot or stain from fabric or carpet:

Adirondack chairs have been around for over a century, but their timeless design is still as popular as ever among those of us looking for comfortable and relaxing outdoor furniture. The original Adirondack chair was invented in 1903 by a man called Thomas Lee, whilst vacationing with his family in Westport, New York. The simple but sturdy design, incorporating the characteristic slanted back and wide armrests, was patented by Harry Bunnel, who named this new style of outdoor chair after the nearby Adirondack region. He went on to successfully sell his Adirondack chairs made from hemlock to summer residents of the resort of Westport for the next 20 years. And the classic design continues to be a favorite to this day.

The enduring appeal of Adirondack furniture lies in the fact that not only does it look great in almost any recreational setting, from porches to lawns, decks to patios, it is also incredibly comfortable to sit in. Adirondack chairs are made from different types of wood, including cedar, teak and mahogany. The wood can be left to weather naturally, stained to preserve its natural color, or painted in any shade you choose. Modern alternatives that are virtually maintenance free are recycled plastic chairs, which do look amazingly like real wood. (more…)

Choosing Furniture For Him And Her

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2008

Have you ever experienced picking out furniture with your partner? Chances are, you?ve had quite a few disagreements about the style, the design, and even the material of every piece of furniture in the store. It?s a common sight to see couple arguing about the furniture they want to get for their home. Times like these, I often think that bachelors really have it easy compared to married men.

And why not? Bachelors get to pick anything they want and put it anywhere they want it. As for married men, every furniture-related decision will have to go through a series of arguments and debates before anything can be purchased. Whether it?s a couch for the living room or a corner table for the bedroom, it?s never easy finding and buying furniture for couples.

This is because men and women have entirely different opinions on what makes a good piece of furniture. When men think of furnishings for the home, they think of straight, clean lines, uncluttered designs, muted colors like tan, brown, and black, and large-scale builds with leather or plain fabrics. Contemporary, functional pieces with a casual theme go well for men, whether they are for wooden or upholstered furniture.

Posted by admin on May 28th, 2008

To understand what Wicker sunroom furniture is, you must first know what is Wicker and how it differentiates from Rattan. Wicker includes all types of products that are made out of natural materials, willow, rush, banana leaf, grasses, straw, cane or reed. They are mostly woven in between frames of Rattan. Rattan refers to a vine that can grow up to some hundred feet high and is extremely strong and durable. Most of the times, both these two materials are used together to make the sunroom furniture. They are soaked in water to soften the fibers so that it can be woven properly. When they are stained, they show slight difference in color and hue. This makes the product look all the more natural and attractive. The wicker sunroom indoor furniture can be molded into various shapes and forms to provide an inexhaustible range of wicker products in all types of look and style. Thus, no matter how your sunroom is shaped and placed, you will definitely find similar shaped wicker furniture to go with the look and feel of your conservatory or sunroom.

The origins of Amish furniture can be traced to America where majorities of the Amish people reside. Originally hailing from Europe, the Amish eventually settled in some States of the US and Canada. The Amish people are rooted to their culture and legacy and are slow to adapt to the modern technologically advanced world. That’s why the Americans call them “The Simple People”. Every finished Amish furniture article is a testimony to the amount of hard work and craftsmanship that has gone into producing such a masterpiece. A single furniture article could take days to complete. To lend an extravagant look to each finished article, the Amish artisans employ the skills that are unique to their clan. When it comes to patio and pool furniture, none is as versatile and as popular as outdoor strap furniture, available in a multitude of color and designs and in a price range to fit everyone?s budget. Materials used are also varied on outdoor strap furniture from plastic and vinyl to canvas and wood they are also usually stackable or folding for easy storage.

As a cheap, comfortable alternative to metal and plastic seats and backs, outdoor strap furniture is usually found by swimming pools, both private and public, and anywhere else seating near water may be necessary. Typically, having a frame made of aluminum tubing, outdoor strap furniture is light enough to be carried for short walk to the beach and neither the traps nor the frame is highly susceptible to water damage.

You CAN Have Your Cats and Your Furniture Too

Posted by admin on May 25th, 2008

No one wants to invest hundreds or even thousands of dollars in furnishings only to see them ripped to shreds by an overzealous pet, however beloved. To many people the obvious answer is to have their cats declawed, but it this really a reasonable alternative?

Its proponents depict it as a simple and painless operation, but it is neither simple or painless. Most people aren’t aware that it’s not just the claws that are removed. Declawing involves the amputation of the first joint of each toe, and as any amputee can tell you, the pain persists for months if not years. The only difference is your cat can’t tell you it still hurts.

This doesn’t mean you have to put up with shredded furniture and drapes, or snagged carpets. I have four cats of my own, none of then declawed, and my upholstery and curtains are intact and my rugs unsnagged. There are a number of steps you can take to minimize or eliminate the damage.
